FERRIES TO THE ISLANDS

Caledonian MacBrayne (www.calmac.co.uk) are the main ferry operator to Mull and Iona, operating from Oban on the mainland to Craignure; Lochaline in Morvern to Fishnish; Kilchoan in Ardnamurchan to Tobermory and Fionnphort on Mull to Iona. The Highland Council operates a ferry across the Corran Narrows near Fort William, cutting out a long car journey around Loch Linnie and Loch Eal. Bruce Watt Sea Cruises operates a service to Knoydart. Various operators offer excursions to Staffa and the Treshnish Islands. Access to Ulva is via a small boat. Summer Timetables

FLYING TO SCOTLAND

There are no airports or aerodromes on Mull or the north-west coast of Scotland except for a small airfield near Oban. The main airports in Scotland are at Glasgow Prestwick and Glasgow International. There are also airports at Aberdeen and Edinburgh. British Airways (www.ba.com) are the national flag carrier but several budget airlines operate to Scotland. Zoom (www.flyzoom.com) operates budget flights between Glasgow International and Canada.
