Mishnish Hotel

Tobermory

Black to the future at the Mishnish Hotel

A visit to the Isle of Mull is not complete without a visit to the Mishnish Hotel in Tobermory. The hotel offers accommodation in ample bedrooms all with en-suite facilities and some overlooking the harbour. The pub underwent major refurbishment and extension in 1997 and now incorporates the former coutyard to the rear plus two rooms, the Chain Locker and Games Room.

The bar has a nautical theme with photographs of Tobermory harbour and items recovered from shipwrecks. Note the inscriptions in Gaelic, a language that is still spoken in the Outer Hebrides and by some of Mull's senior population. The hotel has been owned by the same family since it was opened in 1869.

Live music is a regular feature at the Mishnish with bands performing most weekends and during the summer, weekdays. Some weekends during the quieter winter months there is a disco. Sunday nights are quiz nights. There are occasionally impromtou jamming sessions in the Chain Locker and during the last weekend in April, the Mishnish along with other pubs and hotels play host to the Isle of Mull Music Festival.

Voted the Friendliest Pub in Scotland by the Dram licensees' newpaper for Scotland in 1999. You will see why when you visit. This pub is highly reccommended by the webmaster and is probably the best pub in Scotland.
